The Seasonal Summer E-Course: Week 1
Welcome, Intention Setting and Creating a Nature Mandala
We’ll start the course on June 24th for a welcoming email. We’ll work to set personal intentions for the summer and the next 6 weeks of lessons. Then, we’ll build a nature mandala that sets that intention firmly in the material world. I’ll be posting my mandala on Instagram using the hashtag #seasonalsummer, and I hope you will, too! I also invite you to follow the farm’s feed here!

The Seasonal Summer E-Course: Week 2
Seasonal Summer Flavors
During week 2, the Seasonal Summer E-Course will help us create meals with the seasonal flavors of summer. This includes ideas and recipes for gardeners, farmers market shoppers, and food co-op members. Sourcing local and seasonal food, storing it in a way that preserves its flavors and nutrition, and making fresh and tasty meals is a simple summer pleasure. Join us in the kitchen this seasonal summer!
The Seasonal Summer E-Course: Week 3
Food preservation is the ultimate seasonal activity during the summer months. Each week, a new fruit or vegetable comes to fullness. The seasonalist works to capture these flavors for present consumption and future meals. During week 3, I will offer a simple recipe for small batch vinegar-based pickles and simple bring ferments. Master these 2 recipes and you can preserve just about any harvest. To make this task ever more simple, we will talk about quick-freezing surpluses as well.
You’ll want to mark this email for future reference again, and again!
The Seasonal Summer E-Course: Week 4
Minimalism is the practice of creating the life of your dreams through consciously simplifying your space, calendar, and mind. If you over 50, like me, you’ll remember this life approach used to be called Simplicity or Simple Living. I like to move toward the term minimalism because it implies action. To minimize. During week 4 we will look at 3 ways to work with the feel and energy of summer to practice minimalism.
The Seasonal Summer E-Course: Week 5
By far and away, the most popular posts of this blog are the monthly garden task lists. I love creating them because they help me get organized in my own seasonal life. In week 5 of the Seasonal Summer E-Course, we will turn to the flowers, foods, and flavors of the summer garden. This will be another email you’ll want to tag for future reference!
The Seasonal Summer E-Course: Week 6
Ah, the conclusion…time to review and summarize and take what we’ve learned into the remaining weeks of summer. By now, it’s Lughnasadh, the seasonal holiday that marks the mid-point between the summer solstice and the autumnal equinox. The days are noticeably shorter. The crickets and cicadas create the soundtrack. Many of us will be on vacation. I love this time of year.
This final email will focus on planning out the next 6 weeks to stay on the seasonal track.
