This post is dedicated to the seasonal sounds of October. We’ve created a Halloween music playlist on Spotify.
It’s a great listen while cooking, getting into your costume, giving out treats, and anytime this October!
Halloween Music Playlist | 40 Family Friendly Songs
It’s been an enjoyable October afternoon on the farm while building this Halloween music playlist on Spotify. I curated 40 family-friendly songs to fill your October days with spooks, ghouls, and October seasonal sounds. Some songs are oldies but goodies from my childhood, some are new favorites. I especially had fun finding the TV and movie soundtracks!
A Salute to Old Time Radio
Back in the 1970s, there was a very entertaining radio show called Dr. Demento. The weekly program played silly songs and had outrageous commentary from the good Doctor. It was funny and a little scary, perfect entertainment for a pre-teen. Building this list brought back memories of sitting with my family on Saturday nights, playing board games and listening to songs like The Funny Farm, Really bizarre stuff. The memories prompted an internet search to see what archives were available for the show. I was surprised to see that the show not only has an archive but streams weekly to this day. If you find yourself housebound with your family one evening this October, choose an old episode and stream it while playing a game of Clue or Sorry. It will be fun and create memories, good ones.
I am also addicted to Old Time Radio. In the days before television, not to mention the internet, the radio was central to family time. There is a vast library of radio shows that have exceptional acting and engaging sound techniques that conspire to pull the listener into another world and another time. While ricocheting through Spotify looking for the songs on this October playlist, I found a collection of stories with a Halloween theme. If you are an audiobook fan, like me, you’ll love these stories. I can be found most days with my earbuds in while working in the garden or the kitchen, listening to audiobooks, Spotify playlists, and Old Time Radio recordings. It’s a hobby I am happy to share with you.
Here’s the link to the playlist with over 100 stories:
