Stony Ridge Farm is an online community supporting individuals seeking to create a particular calm sanity in their daily lives that is rooted in the soothing rhythms of seasonal time. The blog is currently broken down into four categories: food, home, garden, and wellness. I find these to be the areas of focus that have the greatest impact on my general wellness and right relationship with the world – good or bad decisions in these areas have life influencing consequences.
FOOD is all about working with the fresh ingredients available for your daily meals from local providers. The farmers in your community are dedicated to cultivating vegetables, eggs, meats and fresh herbs of the highest quality and nutritional value. Building a relationship with a local farm and gathering the primary ingredients for your household meals from their weekly offerings inserts your body and senses into the moments of the seasons as they pass. FOOD blogs are recipes that either help you capture the best of a particular ingredient in a single meal or in a food preservation technique that supports your locavore intentions throughout the year. Check it out!
HOME is dedicated to DIY projects that support your seasonal lifestyle by helping you disconnect from commercialism. Most of the projects are easy because I’m a little handicapped in this area. If I can pull these projects off with some level of success, then I have complete confidence that you will have fun dedicating an afternoon creating with their guidance. Give one a try! (PS – You’ll find a little write up on Bob’s farm themed posters in the HOME section, too!)
GARDEN is dedicated to both basic kitchen garden how-to’s and task lists, as well as highlighting successful kitchen gardens. Whether you are in a rural, suburban or urban environment, we can introduce you to inspirational kitchen gardens. Take a virtual visit!
WELLNESS was created in a moment when I recognized the profound impact my spiritual and nutritional practices have on the quality of my seasonal lifestyle. If you are feeling overwhelmed by the distance between your current modern lifestyle and your aspirations for a slower and more simple seasonal lifestyle, this selection of blogs will offer practices that help ground, calm, and clarify.
